ADVANCE ESTIMATES MAJOR AGRICULTURE CROPS
Four advance estimates of the major crop production for a year are released by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
Highlights from
the Fourth Advance Estimates for Major Agri-Crops for 2021–22
- The estimated amount of foodgrains produced in the country is 315.72 million tonnes, which is 4.98 million tonnes more than the amount produced in 2020–2021.
- Rice production is expected to reach a new high of 130.29 million tonnes in 2021-22. It is 13.85 million tonnes higher than the five-year average production of 116.44 million tonnes.
- Wheat production is expected to be 106.84 million tonnes in 2021-22. It is 2.96 million tonnes higher than the five-year average wheat production of 103.88 million tonnes.
- Production of Nutri / Coarse Cereals estimated at 50.90 million tonnes, which is higher by 4.32 million tonnes than the last five years’ average production of 46.57 million tonnes
- The estimated record production of pulses in 2021–2022 will be 27.69 million tonnes, rise 3.87 million tonnes from the average production over the previous five years of 23.82 million tonnes.
- A record 37.70 million tonnes of oil seeds are expected to be produced nationwide in 2021–2022, rise 1.75 million tonnes from the 35.95 million tonnes produced in 2020–2021.
- Total production of Sugarcane in the country during 2021-22 is estimated at record 431.81 million tonnes which is higher by 58.35 million tonnes than the average sugarcane production of 373.46 million tonnes.
- Production of Cotton and Jute & Mesta is estimated at 31.20 million bales (each of 170 kg) and 10.32 million bales (each of 180 kg), respectively.
